As our region copes with the effects of a series of natural disasters, including an earthquake, hurricane, tornado and flooding, new innovations enabled by nanotechnology are showing promise for protection of life and prevention of damage. Michael Fancher, CNSE Vice President for Economic Outreach and Business Development, discussed how nanoscale technologies are playing in creating smarter and safer communities.

CNSE hosted this manufacturing technology forum in partnership with the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Manufacturing Institute and the Center for Economic Growth. This two-day workshop focused on nanotechnology materials and processes, and provided companies an opportunity to showcase their technologies in hopes of developing long-lasting business relationships.

CNSE hosted the Semiconductor Environmental Safety & Health Association (SESHA) for this two-day conference that focused on the communication and education of environmental, health and safety issues in high-technology industries. 

CNSE partnered with OASIS, a national not-for-profit educational organization housed on the University at Albany campus, for a one-hour talk followed by a tour of CNSE’s Albany NanoTech Complex. The presentation, provided by Dr. Janet Paluh, CNSE Associate Professor of Nanobioscience, focused on her innovative research involving nanomotors and pluripotent stem cells.
