CNSE continues to act as the umbrella academic unit that oversees, coordinates, and promotes undergraduate educational, service, and workforce development and instructional programs in the interdisciplinary science and technology fields of nanosciences, nanotechnology, and nanoengineering.

CNSE hosts several programs for undergraduate student internships to participate in onsite research in nanoscale science, nanoscale engineering, and nanotechnology. In addition, CNSE participates in corporate internship programs to place CNSE graduate students onsite at the world's leading technology companies including IBM, Intel, AMD, and Texas Instruments. Also, in partnership with the University at Albany's STEP and C-STEP programs, CNSE hosts college students from traditionally underrepresented groups to stimulate their interest in science, technology, and engineering programs.
