  2. Forum - Energy Storage and Microgrids: Building a Better Grid

    Microgrids, energy storage, distributed generation and a cleaner more resilient electric grid have been front and center in recent energy policy discussions. This one-day forum will explore the current policies and markets for microgrids, energy storage and distributed generation, including on-grid applications, building applications “behind the meter”, interconnections, funding mechanisms and methods for monetizing these technologies.

    The goal of the forum is to bring together thought and practice leaders from industry, government and academia to clearly define the benefits and challenges to expanding the deployment of microgrids, distributed generation and energy storage, as well as to discuss potential mechanisms to address the policy, regulatory, and market challenges.

    The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) will host the 2013 class of Leadership Tech Valley on Thursday, June 6. The session will feature a presentation by CNSE Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Alain E. Kaloyeros and a tour of CNSE’s Albany NanoTech Complex.

    Leadership Tech Valley, a shared initiative of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Schenectady County, is a multi-week program that offers participants an inside look at some of the area’s most innovative organizations, as well as opportunities to enhance their professional networks .
